🍂 So much to be thankful for! 🧡

This Thanksgiving, we're especially grateful for all the wonderful people who help make the Melfort & District Museum such a special place!

This past week, our volunteers were busy with our annual “Move in the Tractors Day,” while others have been hard at work preparing for Christmas Village since early September!

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for the time, energy, and dedication they give to the museum throughout the year. We couldn't do it without you!

🎨 A HUGE thank you to Prairie North Co-op! ❤️

Thanks to their generous support through the Communities in Full Colour program and their donation of CO-OP® Imagine Paint, the Melfort & District Museum is getting a fresh new look!

Our volunteers have been busy painting the new buildings in our Land Expansion Project and refreshing several buildings throughout our Settler Village.

With over 20 historic buildings to maintain, there's always something that needs a little TLC! Keeping our buildings in good condition takes considerable time, effort, and resources, and generous support like this makes a tremendous difference.

Thank you, Prairie North Co-op, for helping us preserve our history and keep the museum looking its best for everyone to enjoy! ❤️

Tours, campfires, scavenger hunts and more! 🔥🔎

It was a busy week at the museum, and we loved welcoming two Girl Guide groups, two classes from MUCC, and two groups from Kinistino Public School!

The kids especially loved trying out the wringer washing machine. We hope their parents know just how much they enjoy helping with the laundry! 😄

It’s always great to see students and community groups exploring, learning and having fun at the museum!

Our player piano may be getting a little out of tune, but we just had to play “9 to 5” for one more group in honour of Dolly Parton Day! 🎶

After all, “9 to 5” was definitely the song of the summer at the museum! It became a favourite during tours and visits, so it seemed only fitting to give it one more spin. 🩷

We were thrilled to partner with Reconciliation Melfort on a special community art project, Walking in Reconciliation.

Beginning on National Indigenous Peoples Day, community members were invited to decorate a moccasin vamp to contribute to the artwork. Throughout the summer, the project was displayed at the museum, where visitors and our Time Warp kids continued adding their pieces. Reconciliation Melfort also hosted additional opportunities for community members to take part.

The completed artwork has now moved to Suncrest College in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Be sure to check it out when you attend the upcoming Community Round Dance and Walk on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:30 am at the MUCC track.

💛 Small acts can make a mighty difference!

Mavis Durell is committed to raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer charities.

Over the summer, visitors to the Melfort & District Museum helped support her efforts by donating pop can tabs for Small But Mighty, which provides financial assistance to families facing childhood cancer.

Now, there’s another opportunity to support a great cause. 💛
