Melfort & District Museum

Melfort & District Museum The Melfort & District Museum, located in the heart of northeast Saskatchewan, features an extensive history of Pioneer heritage.

Join our costumed interpreters or go for a self guided tour as you explore our Settler Village, Machinery Row, Indigenous Peoples and Archeology Building and More as we endeavor to tell the history of Melfort and the surrounding area. Our programs include many special events on and off site throughout the year, and school tours, public tours, and Timewarp museum days for children in the summer.

Our Settler Village is open from June to October. Temporary Displays in the Power House are open year round.

🚜 Attention, Tractor Enthusiasts!

Our amazing volunteers have been hard at work over the past year restoring and painting several pieces of antique machinery.

We’ve rearranged our machinery row to showcase some of these beautifully restored tractors. Be sure to check them out during your next visit!

We were thrilled to host over 500 people for National Indigenous Peoples Day at the museum yesterday.

During the day, we welcomed Pre-K to Grade 9 students who participated in a variety of arts and cultural activities. The event was kicked off by Chaq and Lloyd Stoney, who shared about drumming and their culture.

A big thank you to the Office of the Treaty Commissioner for bringing the Treaty Timeline, and to the Marguerite Riel Centre for joining us for the evening community event.

Thank you to our wonderful partners, Melfort and the North East School Division, as well as our sponsors, Prairie North Co-op, Suncrest College, and the Government of Canada. We are also grateful to all of the volunteers who helped throughout the day.

It was a meaningful day of learning, sharing, and community, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
