Museum volunteers are just about ready! Thank you for all the donations for the garage sale this Saturday. We are no longer taking donations. Again the community spirit has been overwhelming and we appreciate it.

Thanks to Lee Barber and Brady Aulie for bringing their outdoor ed. students to clear the museum grounds of debris. It was a huge task and what a difference it makes. Our volunteers Dave Hansen and Luke Sitter are steering the project of fire protecting the buildings by removing dead trees. Our goal is to plant new trees this season!

This is our 300th FB post! We are celebrating with a look at our volunteers who make the Lumsden Museum a special place. High School students, Elementary School students, new volunteers and old volunteers!
We are looking forward to a busy 2026 season. Starting with the community garage sale on May 23rd. The museum is accepting donations for this annual fundraiser. Drop off items on Tuesday mornings and Saturday May 9 and May 16 from 9:30 to 11:30.

Visiting museums, daily, has reminded me how wonderful the Lumsden Museum is. It offers an opportunity to explore and discover. Whether it’s your family ancestry or learning friends and neighbours way of life in our community these past 130+ years, you need to visit us.

The Lumsden and District Museum features 5 buildings filled with local historic artifacts. They are an example of the areas way of life in late 1800s, early 1900s. We think of them as old.

I am traveling and am learning Lumsden is not that old! These pictures show 2 buildings and a bridge that were built much earlier and still used today! The Kilmainham Hospital was built in 1679 and today is the Museum of Modern Art in Dublin.

Wherever you adventure, discover history through museums. It is time well spent!

Did you know the Lumsden Museum will give you a guided tour complete with stories to satisfy everyone’s curiosity. Just give us a call to schedule. We open again in June by appointment and for the summer season in July and August.
