Get ready for the Understory

“Understory” is a themed group exhibition taking place throughout June at the Village Gallery in Lumby. This show invites artists to explore the hidden, overlooked, and imaginative dimensions of the plant life that surrounds us every day. From roots to canopy, micro to monumental, we’re looking for unusual perspectives on the familiar—works that reveal what might be happening beneath the surface or beyond what the eye typically sees.

Artists of all levels are encouraged to participate. All media and styles are welcome, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and more. Whether your approach is scientific, abstract, whimsical, or deeply personal, we invite you to interpret the “secret life of plants” in your own unique way.

Join us in bringing the understory to light.

Are you looking for something fun to get involved in this Lumby Days? MAC is looking for volunteers to help at our annual display of the Arts!

Help paint Birdhouses, mini barn quilts, encourage visitors to vote on their favorite works at the art show and photo contest!

We are also looking for a a few local photographers who would be willing to step in to judge this years photography contest.

Come down to the Monashee Arts Council Village Gallery during the community showcase!

Check out the current show celebrating the Monashee Quilters 30th anniversary. Check out the barn quilts that are for sale (proceeds go towards keeping our community art classes affordable for everyone. And try painting your own mini barn quilt!
