The Lucan Poppy Project Continues!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and supporters from beyond Lucan, well over 2,000 beautiful knitted and crocheted poppies have been donated to the project, and now it’s time to bring them all together!

This Remembrance Day, these handmade poppies will be used to create meaningful displays at the Lucan Legion and Granton Cenotaph, creating a community tribute to those who served in the wars.

🧶 We still need your help!

We’re looking for community volunteers of all ages to help us assemble the poppies into blankets and prepare them for display.

📚 Students: This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours while taking part in a meaningful local project.

Come out, bring a friend, and help us bring community spirt and remembrance to the Lucan Legion and Granton Cenotaph!

Just a reminder as we move from Summer Hours to Winter Hours, we will *not* be open this coming Sunday October 4th.

We are, however, open Thursday through Saturday, 11am to 4pm and we hope to see you!

🧡 On September 30, everyone is welcome to take part in the national gathering Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, on Parliament Hill.

This event brings people together to honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home and reflect on the path toward reconciliation.

🔎WHO’S IT WEDNESDAY - Reveal 🔍

For those who guessed it, Amazing job!

The answer is Physique Delta! 🎸🎤

When they came in to the museum they were excited to see our collection, but they were also curious if we had anything about them - photographs newspaper articles, etc.

They told us about the amazing days on stage performing for Lucan, the flash of cameras from the crowd and all the people dancing their hearts out!

Unfortunately, we did not find anything for them, so we figured, what better way to find some memories for the band than reaching out to those who were dancing and singing along to their sets!

If you have any photos or newspaper clippings, we would love to see them- we would love to add them to our collection but most importantly, get them to the band. And as always, share your stories, because we love to see that community connection and they would love to read the memories too!
