🏺 Textured Pottery Workshop — Thursday, October 15

Join us for a beginner pottery class led by Nicole Gamble! Using pre-rolled slabs, you'll press vintage doilies, leaves, flowers and stamps into clay to create 3 medium dishes, 3 small dishes and 3 pendants. At the end of the night, you'll choose a glaze colour for each piece, and your finished work will be ready for pick-up or delivery about 2 weeks later.
No experience needed, and all materials are included.

🎨 A Painting Demonstration by Lin Souliere — Friday, October 16th

Join us for a special afternoon as watercolour artist Lin Souliere paints live in our front exhibit room — the very space where her and Carl Bell's duo exhibit, The Land in Two Voices, is on display!

Watch Lin work her watercolour-on-canvas process from start to finish, drawing on the shapes, patterns, and light of the landscape. It's a rare chance to see how her striking pieces come to life, and to experience the exhibit alongside the artist herself.

Celebrate the season with soft wool and warm creativity in this beginner-friendly class led by Nicole Gamble!

You'll learn the art of needle felting to sculpt your own charming mini pumpkins — perfect for fall décor or gifting. Nicole will guide you through shaping, detailing, and finishing techniques to bring your pumpkins to life with texture and personality. No experience necessary, all materials are included — just come ready to create and enjoy a relaxing, hands-on afternoon.

🧡 Closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, September 30th, The Art Shoppe is closed to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We're taking this day to reflect on the tragic legacy of residential schools, to remember the children who never came home, and to honour survivors, their families, and their communities.

The Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation is hosting a gathering at Cape Croker Park from 4:00 – 7:00 PM — an evening of remembering, learning, sharing, and connection, open to all. We encourage everyone to take time today to learn, reflect, and honour.

Every Child Matters.

We'll reopen October 1st.

🎨 Feature Artist Friday — Lin Souliere & Carl Bell

This week we're featuring not one but two artists — the wife-and-husband duo behind our newest exhibit, The Land in Two Voices!

Lin Souliere works mainly in watercolour, drawing on the shapes, patterns, and light of the landscape — the rock of the Canadian Shield, Great Lakes shorelines, and old growth forests — layering colour to let shape and light lead the way into abstract form. A founding member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists, she paints from her studio at Dragonfly Ridge.

Carl Bell works across printmaking, photography, sculpture, stained glass, and acrylics, with work exhibited in Ontario, British Columbia, and New Mexico. He shares the Dragonfly Ridge studio, where his interest in the environment, solar energy, and green building runs so deep that he built every structure on the property himself — one huge installation art piece!

Their exhibit brings together two distinct yet complementary visions of the land, and it's on display now.

🎉 Join us TOMORROW — Saturday, September 19th, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM — for their Opening Reception! Come meet the artists and experience the show. The exhibit runs through October 31st.
