A museum complex of 6 buildings on 1 site: Centennial Building build 1967, the first Knowlton Academy built in 1854 and the Martin Annex which houses our famous Fokker DVV, WWI German Airplane and the military museum, the old Fire Hall and Tower that houses the General Store, Blacksmith Shop and other displays not to be missed. The Old Court House on 15 rue St. Paul, constructed 1857-1858, houses the Archives.

Last Saturday, the official groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of the expansion work at the Brome County Historical Society and the Lac-Brome Museum. Several partners, community members and friends of the museum gathered to celebrate this important milestone.

This project will allow the museum to host new exhibitions and continue its mission of preserving and showcasing our local heritage. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this significant milestone on our path to the future.

Samedi dernier avait lieu la cérémonie officielle de la première pelletée de terre marquant le début des travaux d’agrandissement du Musée Lac-Brome. Plusieurs partenaires, membres de la communauté et amis du musée étaient présents pour célébrer ce moment important.

Ce projet permettra d’accueillir de nouvelles expositions et de poursuivre la mission de préservation et de mise en valeur du patrimoine local portée par le musée et la Société historique du comté de Brome. Merci à tous ceux et celles qui se sont déplacés pour souligner cette belle étape tournée vers l’avenir.

Despite grey skies and a little rain, the Museum’s first Antiques and Crafts Market of the season took place yesterday in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Nothing stops treasure hunters and lovers of unique finds, not even the rain!

A heartfelt thank you to our vendors and to all the visitors who came out to support the event. Your presence helps bring the Museum and our community to life.

Malgré un ciel gris et un peu de pluie, le premier Marché d’antiquités et d’artisanat du Musée de la saison a eu lieu hier dans une ambiance chaleureuse et conviviale. Rien n’arrête les passionnés de trouvailles et de trésors du passé, même pas la pluie!

Merci à tous nos exposants ainsi qu’aux nombreux visiteurs qui sont venus encourager l’événement. Votre présence fait vivre le Musée et notre belle communauté.

The Lac-Brome Museum is proud to present Stories of Black Communities in the Eastern Townships, an important exhibition that highlights often-overlooked stories from our regional history. From early chapters linked to slavery and the Underground Railroad to today’s cultural, sports, and activist movements, this exhibition explores the contributions of Black communities to the evolution of the Eastern Townships.

Because archives can sometimes be incomplete, this exhibition is also an invitation to reflect, engage in dialogue, and enrich our collective memory. An essential visit to better understand the past, present, and future of our region.

Le Musée Lac-Brome est fier de présenter Histoires des personnes noires dans les Cantons-de-l’Est, une exposition importante qui met en lumière des récits souvent oubliés de notre histoire régionale.
Des premiers chapitres liés à l’esclavage et au chemin de fer clandestin jusqu’aux scènes culturelles, sportives et mouvements activistes actuels, cette exposition explore la contribution des communautés noires à l’évolution des Cantons-de-l’Est.

Parce que les archives demeurent parfois fragmentaires, cette exposition se veut aussi une invitation à réfléchir, dialoguer et enrichir notre mémoire collective. Une visite essentielle pour mieux comprendre le passé, le présent et l’avenir de notre région.
