Located approximately 1/2 km east of the Town of Kindersley, the Kindersley & District Plains Museum is the perfect complement to your summer visit or just an excellent addition to your afternoon. See our collection of archaeological artifacts, enjoy our various displays ranging from homesteads to war memorabilia, or even just spend some time learning in our history room. Kindersley's Railway Past Captured in 1947

A fascinating 1947 aerial postcard offers a glimpse of Kindersley during its railway heyday, when the Canadian National Railway station was the heart of the community.

According to former Kindersley resident Ron Lamont, the old boxcar visible in the park near the centre of the photograph, just above the station roof, served as the CNR recreation building. It was a popular gathering place for railway employees and their families.

Also visible is the old hotel operated by Mr. and Mrs. Haldas, along with the large apartment building known as the Topping Block, owned by Tom Topping. Lamont recalled living in both buildings after moving to Kindersley in 1949.

The image captures a time when steam locomotives, rail traffic and the station dominated the town's landscape, preserving a remarkable snapshot of Kindersley's early history.
