We’re so pleased to share these beautiful pieces of Highland Village by local youth artist Isla Cook.

We had a chance to chat with Isla earlier this spring about her work. As she shared, “I hope my art reminds people what a beautiful place Cape Breton is,” which we think is something that truly comes through in each piece!

Inspired by the unmatched scenery of the site and her own childhood memories visiting with family, Isla’s work reflects both a personal connection and a deep appreciation for Cape Breton’s beauty.

Her paintings, created using only primary colours and white, making her a master of colour theory, take 8–10 hours each and are filled with care, patience, and talent.

At just 16, Isla has already been growing her small business for over 5 years, and we’re excited to share her work with you.

We couldn’t possibly pick a favourite, they’re both so beautiful. Be sure to check out more of her work at on Instagram.
