Happy Mother's Day to All our Mothers !
And our admiration in remembering the Mothers who juggled so much more along with raising children, keeping their various hobbies- painting, genealogy, community & staying in touch even when life took them on other 'tracks'.......... here is one of our native girls- Rita Farrell (1924-2017)- began her 40+ year career as a CN Telegrapher in Grand Narrows in 1943.... and later on to Amherst, Debert & Truro, while still making time to get back to River Denys.

Reopening a line, not sure why they call it a 'long distance'......... 🤔

A long-distance passenger rail line from Toronto to Timmins is officially back in motion — with test runs already underway. The 740-kilometre route will reconnect Union Station to Northern Ontario across 16 stops, including a link to Cochrane.⁠

Three new Siemens-built trainsets, delivered earlier this year, completed their first test run to North Bay on March 31. The line was originally shut down in 2012, but the province committed $75 million in 2022 to revive the service.⁠

Onboard upgrades include Wi-Fi, charging outlets, wider aisles, bike storage, galley-style food service, and even business meeting pods. A full launch is planned for 2026, though an exact start date hasn’t been announced.⁠
