Featured Artist: Annette Twist
Annette Twist is the featured artist in Artworks Gallery Guelph’s current exhibition, The Heart of the Community, on now until October 21. Open daily from 10-4.
Annette presents a striking series of photographs inspired by Frank Gehry’s architecture at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rather than simply documenting the building itself, Annette has captured the fascinating world reflected in its mirrored surfaces.
The building’s curves, angles and stainless-steel panels transform the surrounding architecture, sky and landscape into wonderfully distorted shapes, colours and patterns. Her photographs invite us to look at familiar surroundings in an entirely different way—where architecture becomes abstract art and reflections create unexpected compositions.
The resulting images are dynamic, colourful and often almost dreamlike, revealing the playful beauty that can be found when we take the time to look closely and see differently.
Come to Artworks Gallery Guelph at 404 York Road to see Annette’s photographs and discover the remarkable reflections for yourself.
