Art Gallery of Sudbury This is your Art Gallery. Be a part of it! | Voici votre galerie d'art. Soyez des Nôtres! Open 11 am - 5 pm, Tues.-Sat. | Ouverte 11h à 17h, mar. à sam.

The Art Gallery of Sudbury was established in 1967 as a Centennial project of the Sudbury and District Chamber of Commerce. Originally operating as the Laurentian University Museum and Art Centre, the gallery was incorporated in 1997. Housed in a turn of the century mansion, the former residence of lumber baron William Joseph Bell, the gallery has a unique architectural appeal. Local history and contemporary works of art come together in the lush surroundings of the Gallery grounds. Our exciting exhibitions, lecture series, art classes and special events make the gallery a gathering place for the local community. The Art Gallery is open to the public year round. On Tuesday, October 26, the Art Gallery of Sudbury announced plans to build the first ever purpose-built art gallery in the Greater Sudbury Area.

Meet Nadya Kwandibens (Anishinaabe/Ojibwe, Animakee Wa Zhing #37 First Nation), an award-winning photographer, Canon Ambassador, the current Photo Laureate for the City of Toronto and a featured artist in our current exhibition, "FROM TURTLE ISLAND TO ABYA YALA".

Through her ongoing series The Red Chair Sessions, Kwandibens creates powerful portraits that foreground Indigenous presence, sovereignty, language revitalization, and connection to the land. Each image serves as both a celebration of Indigenous achievement and a reminder that Indigenous Peoples have cared for these lands since time immemorial.

We are also proud to partner with the Abya Yala Latin American Film Festival for this exhibition, which brings together Indigenous perspectives from the lands now known as Canada and the Chiapas Highlands of Mexico. Through photography and film, the partnership highlights stories of Indigenous resistance, reclamation, and resurgence across colonial borders.

One of the evening classes for adults that we are offering this season is Watercolour Botanicals.

In week 2 of the class students focused on value and used a grisaille technique which uses shades of gray to build up three dimensional volume, form and light values in their artworks before adding colour.

👩‍🎨🤍🩶🖤🎨

Check out these absolutely boo-tiful pumpkin and ghost paintings made by young artists in Anything Goghs this weekend!

These Creative Kids weekend workshops are the perfect place for your kiddos to not only create masterpieces but to learn the foundations of art. Embracing the beginning of spooky season, young artists learned about shading and blending practicing these skills on both black and white paper.
