Public Art "REFRESH"
I painted five utility boxes on the street in Sechelt BC - 17 years ago!

I've been asked by Sechelt to refresh and rejuvenate them - so they're getting cleaned stripped of old varnish, retouched with a bit of paint work and re-varnished to protect them from the Sun and graffiti.

So if you see me on the street around in Sechelt in the next couple of weeks - come and say hi !

Kudos to the district of Sechelt and the staff and team for supporting public arts and culture on the Sunshine Coast - because YES I am getting paid ;-)

What a week. Camus heaven

And I will be working on a new collection added to update my website next week.

Oak and camus Meadows. Uplands

Sorting and packing before heading off.

The golden color that I primed for these meadow paintings has been great.

Think purple < green > complement.

Acrylic on canvas. Plein air.
Still work to do on these large ones.
16x16 and 12x24.

Coastal gardens.

Gardening is a challenge any time.
Here on the most eastern tip of Vancouver Island it is even more so - salt air, massive Boulders, huge trees and of course our favorite dainty ungulates.

The stately old homes are surrounded by beautiful colorful matures plantings. The seaside homes have found innovative ways to create interest with beach stones and driftwood.

EVERYTHING is fabulous this spring
/summer, from Viburnums, rhodos, lilac and laburnums. Makes me dizzy driving.

One sunrise.

I was doing my Tai chi
And had to keep pausing to take another shot of this sunrise over Mt Baker.

It just kept getting better.

Happy Mother Nature's day.

Sparkles & Sun Pennies.
Around the corner and out to sea

Still chasing the Camas - this glorious bluff in the morning light is just around the corner from our stay place on 10 mile Point in Victoria.

I came out yesterday to photograph and sketch so packed and planned a 16x16 cradle panel (last pic) last night.
Ready to go out at the same time if the weather this morning cooperated.

Not only did the sparkles show
The same fishing boat came cruising through ;-))

Great spot.

The pleasures of plein air.

Meeting up with like minded folks.

Thanks to
for suggesting Playfair Park for some Camus painting
And a magnificent show of stately Rhodos and azaleas. SO much color!

And I did my favorite little gouache painting so far.

Made on Vancouver Island...

My Tripod kit panel & shelf
My little original painting
Myself ;-) !!!

I was born in Victoria 1957.
Lived on Monterey in Oak Bay
And later in Gordon Head
(Dad worked in the shipyards)
Learned to swim at Crystal Pool
And road our bikes up and down Tolmie.

So I have probably met some of these oaks before.

Nice to be back - visiting old friends and have met such friendly folks while out working on site.

Camus Meadows in Victoria BC

05/09/2026

Welcome to the Camus meadow.

I have enjoyed fine weather, light breezes and birdsong in my painting excursions into the Meadows, over the rocks and under the oaks. 5 days so far.

Been working on location early each morning, and back at the stay place (with a nap) with a couple of evening sessions on site.
In Acrylic and Gouache - it has been perfect conditions.

The early and late light on the Oaks is wonderful. I hope this little clip gives you a sense of calm and sunny respite.
