The Shop Series - Steve Toews
Steve has no professional woodworking training, yet he does work with wood. Although there was the one semester in grade 9 wood shop, which must have been a jam-packed few months, despite the hooky playing antics of a 14-year-old, as Steve does indeed have the skills of a woodworker.
Identifying more as a tool collector than a woodworker, he justifies his habit by firing up his tools and making something once in a while. Steve will purchase a tool, spend hours figuring out how it works, and what it does with varying degrees of success. His philosophy is that knowing what you're doing is kind of cheating. What is the fun in that? What he likes to do most is to take a piece of wood that most people would toss in the burn pile and make something nice out of it. Wood upcycling is all the rage. Steve is a trailblazer!
For The Wood Show, Steve will be showing a sewing machine table, a coffee table, and a lamp. Not so bad for a tool collector. And don't you love the Shop Guardian! So rad.
