Red Maple Cottage is a cape code style cottage surrounded by mature maples and pine trees. It is situated in a private spot in the heart of Fenelon Falls in the Kawartha Lakes. It has been my family’s private retreat for many years and we have enjoyed numerous summer vacations there. If you are looking for peace, tranquility and lots of chill time, this is the spot for you. The cottage is just a
5 minute walk to the beach, lakefront, locks, park, antique shops & restaurants. For me the highlight is the Ganaraska trail which runs through Fenelon Falls and offers over 500 km of walking and cycling trails, some of which run along Lake Cameron. For the cycling or bird watching enthusiast it offers a super home base. The scenery is stunning! When you feel the urge to head out, you have some great options. Fenelon Falls is on the Trent Severn Waterway so you could rent a boat at the in-town marina or take the daily Boat cruise on the Kawartha Spirit that departs from the Canal right in town. Just 15 minutes away is Bobcaygeon, home of Kawartha Dairy and the best ice cream ever! There is also great dining, shopping and the most fabulous shoe shop in Ontario, Bigley’s. Within an hour of Fenelon Falls there are multiple places to visit, such as Curve Lake Indian reservation which is home to an amazing native crafts and art gallery store. If you feel like wandering further afield, Algonquin National Park is just 90 minutes north. When the day comes to an end, you can cook up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen or grill up a feast on the outdoor BBQ. The outdoor areas offer numerous options, as there are three decks, and a covered front porch. The largest deck (the sun deck) is 40 by 20 feet and has a screened sun canopy and lounge chairs. The front porch is right off the kitchen and a offers a cozy breakfast nook or a spot to chill out and sip on a martini. The cottage is beautifully decorated and I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
