The town of Eriksdale got its name from a Swedish immigrant named Jonas Erikson, who arrived in 1906 as the second settler when the railway came through.

He was given the honour of naming the town because the tracks ran across his land. When he moved away in 1917, he donated his property for the community to build a hospital.

By 1912, a creamery had opened, built by the Brandon Creamery and Supply Company. It expanded several times as the local dairy industry grew, becoming one of the anchors of community life in the region.

Today, the old Eriksdale Creamery building is home to a museum. It sits alongside St. John's Anglican Church, two buildings that, between them, tell the story of what settlers built out here and why it mattered.
