Summer Students 2026 : Last but CERTAINLY not least, is Ambar!!

Ambar is joining us as 2/2 Community Outreach Co-ordinator!

Hi! My name is Amber or Ambar (whichever you prefer!) (she/her), and I’m joining SNAP this summer as the Community Arts Coordinator! I’m a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and incoming MFA student at the University of Alberta, working primarily in printmaking and photography. My work often explores memory, identity, and connection through tactile and image-based processes.

Outside of SNAP, I’m typically in another studio, playing with mud, or somewhere outside. I love a good coffee, but I love my two dogs even more. I’m so excited to spend the summer with the wonderful community at SNAP!

Ambar has been around SNAP in several contexts, and we're so glad to have her back in the space in this capacity!

Summer Students 2026: Introducing Arden Phillips!

Arden is a new face around SNAP, and will be joining us as 1/2 Community Outreach Co-ordinators! Please join us in welcoming her!

Arden Phillips (she/her) is a writer, dancer, musician, and theatre performer living and working on Treaty 6 territory. She is an avid reader and part-time bookseller, and is currently completing her English and Creative Writing degree at the University of Alberta. Arden is thrilled to be expanding her artistic practice with SNAP this summer!

We're so excited to have Arden with us this summer, and we cant wait to share what she gets up during her time here! Be sure to say hi when you see her around the space!

Introducing our Summer Staff for 2026! Starting us off is a familiar face, and returning summer student alum : Kay Peters!

Hi!! I’m Kay (they/he) and I am returning to SNAP this summer as the Gallery Assistant! I am finishing my BFA in Art & Design at the UofA and just recently had work up at my Grad show at FAB Gallery and Senior Print show at SNAP Gallery. My work involves printmaking and painting and currently revolves around abandoned houses and residential buildings in Edmonton. When I am not working on something new, I am gardening, crafting or bird watching.

We are so excited to have Kay back at SNAP in this formal capacity, please join us in welcoming them back!!

Our Volunteer call is live for the 2026 Casino!

Casino Shifts: July 10 & 11!

Please share far and wide!! This is one of our biggest volunteer asks of the year, and funds raised are crucial for us! Casino volunteer sessions are one of the most important sources of revenue for SNAP and helps sustain our yearly programming including gallery exhibitions, printshop upkeep, and opportunities for artists.

Volunteers receive a free meal, candy bars, and our unlimited love and appreciation! Additionally SNAP will cover transportation costs to and from the location, and hours can be logged towards studio access!

Spring and Summer 2026 classes are now live on our website! We have a variety of classes and workshops for everyone, from beginners to experienced printmakers! We're so fortunate to have a full roster of experienced and dedicated instructors who are passionate about people and print!

Don't see something you like? We offer 1:1 tailored sessions in most print processes! Reach out to Myken ([email protected]) with your project or wildest print dreams, and she will get to work on setting you up with a skilled instructor who can help you through start to finish!

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - SNAP Emerging Artist in Residence 2026 - 27

DEADLINE: June 30, 5pm MST.

The Emerging AIR Program offers emerging artists and recent graduates a studio space as well as an opportunity to work rent-free at the SNAP for a 4-month term. The culmination of each awarded residency is an exhibition opportunity. Each artist will have an opportunity to show the work that was made during their time at SNAP. This is a great way to encourage making and to celebrate each artist and their professional contributions to our community.

This residency is a self-directed opportunity intended for folks with intermediate printmaking experience. Artists should be engaging with media with which they have some hands-on familiarity, or seeking out mentorship opportunities before or during the early stages of their time at SNAP. 📢📢 SAVE THE DATE 📢📢

Our annual steamroller event is coming up and has a hot new theme : Summer Camp!! Think the last night of camp, string lights, and yeah! by Usher is playing somewhere close by (We probably won’t play usher, but let me set the scene).

This year, we’re switching it up a little! The event will happen from 5-9pm and is still free and family friendly! The final plans are still coming together but we’re excited for an evening extravaganza complete with a campfire, s’mores, live music, and more!!
