The Gallery's mission is to provoke and delight its audiences through exposure to the full range of contemporary art being practiced in Canada. Come out and enjoy this years intimate Fall Fair Extravaganza Palooza at Cedar Down Farm, brought to you in part by the Durham Art Gallery! There will be music
from the very talented Alysha Brilla, and apple c***r pressing with apples and pears from Stone Fruit and Bear Berries and the wonderful cooking of Natalie Irving. This year’s fall fair will have a special focus on inclusion for Q***r Trans and Racailized people. So if you yourself fit into those groups we would love to see you there. These artists transform these boxes one with birds in mind, and the other for florals. Annette ten Cate's box 'nuthatch nesting box' is transformed into a bird box and includes a sweet blue winged ceramic bird on the side. This box is a joyful interpretation of the symbiotic relationship between birds and people. In 'Box of Roses' by Barbara Sprague she captures the bold and dynamic beauty of roses, painted on the outside and sculptural inside.

These boxes capture calm beautifully. Herbert Pryke, in his box 'Resin Reliquary; 'Beneath the still waters trace silent paths, a moment of peace'' captures a koi pond. in layers of resin that creates a piece that encourages you to take a moment to pause. Kelsey Lowes, in her box 'midnight' asks us to look down at the night sky, the moon and the night sky painted in a dreamy and quiet style

The artists here are clearly inspired by nature. Chris Hughes' box 'Spring Chorus' captures the silly and playful joy of a frog in a pond, turning his box into a toy-based artwork that has two little frogs moving and croaking in harmony. 'Paddocks' by Barbara McLean & Thomas Wilson captures the cozy calm of a pastural landscape using handspun wool to create a landscape outside and inside, an adorable tiny sheep.

These two artists are bold with their colours. Deeter Hastenteufel's box 'Out of the Blue' completely subverts our idea of a box - transforming it into a playful abstracted sculptural piece. Carol Binns-Wood wraps her painting around the outside of her box, distorting perspective and shifting our understanding of space in her piece 'Kitchen with Green Garbage Can'.
