Lots of action going on at the museum🙂 to enhance the visitor experience….. Our 1950s Skid Shack received a new paint job ( Student Works Painting) and an accessibility ramp was built by the Hammur Construction team🛠️🪚🪚 Power brought to Herndon House so now we can at least set up a fan and use a vacuum cleaner 😉 and a new door for the front of the RR Store was added to replace the broken one 😊🙂. Now on to get organized for summer !

The Museum is looking for a company who could clean the windows ( inside and out) of the old Eldorado School building on our grounds. We don’t want a pressure washer to be used as the windows are old. If you are interested in this job please contact the museum at [email protected] or call 780-542-5482.

In 1922, a shocking event took place in our area - one that made headlines across Western Canada and even reached the U.K.! Now, over 100 years later, you can learn more about this piece of local history through our new “ First Murder” exhibit, on display at the Brazeau County offices. The exhibit was created by our volunteer Linda, using research and information collected over the years by many Historical Society volunteers and offers a closer look at what happened so many years ago. Thank you Linda.👏

This display has been set up to coincide with River Valley Players’ upcoming May production, “Wolf in the Valley” a play based on the first murder in the area. 🐺🐺

Be sure to follow River Valley Players on Facebook for updates and ticket information!

The Museum is excited to see this play written by local resident Blair Begalke which is based on the first murder in Drayton Valley. The Historical Society provided Blair with background information about the 1922 murder and we look forward to seeing the fruits of his creative labour! 🎭🎭👏
