Welcome back to Throwback Thursday! This week has been full of rain and gloomy clouds, fitting for this cartoon published in the Western Review from 1981. The cartoon, titled Drayton Valley’s Summerline Wear, depicts a person dressed in rain gear while a big cloud looms overhead. Many of our summers are sunny and warm, while many of them have been rainy and cooler. Have a great rainy week everyone!

Welcome to Throwback Thursday! Over the summer we will be taking it back to our previous local newspaper headlines and stories.

This week we are celebrating Seniors Week, I thought it would be appropriate to highlight the Seniors Club in Drayton Valley. Since 1967 when the idea was introduced the seniors citizens club has grown and flourished into a pillar of our community. Senior citizen community members gather to chit chat, play some games, and provide support to their fellow peers. These lovely people have so many stories and helpful tips & tricks that they would love to share. I encourage all of you to spend some time this week hearing their stories and getting to know the members of our community!

Lots of action going on at the museum🙂 to enhance the visitor experience….. Our 1950s Skid Shack received a new paint job ( Student Works Painting) and an accessibility ramp was built by the Hammur Construction team🛠️🪚🪚 Power brought to Herndon House so now we can at least set up a fan and use a vacuum cleaner 😉 and a new door for the front of the RR Store was added to replace the broken one 😊🙂. Now on to get organized for summer !
