A kuphar is a type of coracle or round boat traditionally used on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in ancient and modern Mesopotamia. The top image is an Assyrian relief dating back to 700-692 BCE and depicts a kuphar, while the bottom one is an old photo of a kuphar in Baghdad in 1932

I recently renewed the frame for an oil painting I did 12 years ago of the Slocan River.
I used a silver lacquer over a black gesso base and it worked beautifully.
This painting is titled =The Blues Distilled= oil on panel. $4000.

I am gently restoring this 125 year old frame with a combination of potions. To seal the delicate crackle surface, I made traditional Rose Shellac, using natural flakes and methyl hydrate solvent. 🇨🇦.

This painting has progressed symbolically and is still in progress. It is gaining a very complex but fluid circular movement within the composition. One surprise after another.
The top portion now has a wide wave and a a hint of sky above the surface. I’m taking my time as I dive deeper in to the Unknown. “60 x 50” -K**a oil sticks on canvas. Trumpet Music by 🪊Chris Botti. 🇨🇦
