Baking workshop? Check!

Our baking workshop, hosted by local chef Victoria Paikin (), was a huge success! Guests got to try their hand at making Challah and Babka, two bread loaves that are a traditional part of Jewish culture, as a way to connect with Coquitlam's shared culture and past. Each loaf came out beautifully braided, baked fresh in our 1909 heritage kitchen.

Interested in attending a workshop at the Museum? Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for details about our next installments of Feasts of Coquitlam!

Today is Red Dress Day, honoring and spreading awareness about the plight of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People. Indigenous people in Canada are significantly more likely to face violence in their lifetime, often receiving inadequate support and attention from the legal system. This is especially true for women and q***r people.

These issues do not exist in a vacuum, impacting members of our community here in Coquitlam alongside the rest of Canada. We are deeply ashamed that this is an ongoing aspect of our shared history, and commit to ensuring that our programming is mindful of the realities of all Coquitlam residents, including those that are underrepresented.

If you're in need of support, you can reach out to the National, Toll-Free Crisis Line for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-spirited People at 1-844-413-6649
