Watercolour Floral Magic - Paint easy, glowing summer flowers!

Join watercolour artist Trupti Karjinni for a relaxing day of painting loose summer florals inspired by fresh blooms.

Through expressive brushstrokes, color mixing, and simple techniques, you'll learn how to create luminous floral paintings full of movement and life.

In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn how to paint loose, luminous watercolour florals inspired by fresh summer blooms.

Together, we'll explore:
- how to simplify flowers into basic shapes,
- mixing natural shades of floral colors with ease, and
- use expressive brushstrokes to create paintings full of movement and life.

You'll discover how to embrace the spontaneity of watercolour and leave perfectionism behind, while building confidence in your painting process.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with beautiful floral paintings, greater confidence with watercolour, and a renewed sense of creativity and connection with nature.

Date: Sunday July 12th, 2026

Open Art Studio Drop-In Sessions!

Join Kim Cota in a dedicated space designed for those who need the time, space, and materials to move their creative projects forward.

In a busy schedule, it can be difficult to carve out a few hours to focus on making. This time provides a low-pressure, self-guided environment where you can work on an existing project or experiment with something entirely new.

There are no formal lessons or critiques here. Instead, this is a space for creating in community. Whether you’re a lifelong artist or haven't picked up a tool in years, the focus is entirely on the process of creating at your own pace.

All are welcome!

Q***r Art Night!

Join us in a dedicated drop-in space for our q***r community to gather, create, and simply be. Facilitated by Kim Cota, an art therapy intern from the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute, this session offers a zero-judgment environment to explore creative prompts or work on your own self-directed projects.

Q***r Art Night is a space for the q***r community to connect through the act of making. It is a low-pressure environment designed to prioritize "process over product," where you can show up exactly as you are. Whether you're looking for a new creative spark or just a supportive place to sit and work.

The evening is designed to be flexible. A variety of materials and a gentle, accessible art-making prompt are provided to help get your hands moving. However, following the prompt is entirely optional; you are always encouraged to bring your own ongoing work-in-progress or use the studio supplies to follow your own creative lead.

Date: July 14th, 2026

Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Location: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery

Price: FREE!

Ages: 18+

Basic supplies will be available to explore the creative prompts OR you can bring your own projects:
Works-in-progress: Any ongoing projects you would like to move forward.
Specialized tools: Any specific brushes, pens, or materials you prefer to use that are unique to your practice.
Reference materials: Any specific images or inspiration you are currently working from.

Join Route 22 Gallery for an adults-only, hands-on soapstone carving workshop! Learn the fundamentals of shaping stone and creating a finished sculptural piece with artist and Soapstone master Michael Emery.

In this guided, beginner-friendly introduction to soapstone carving, participants will learn basic carving techniques, safe material handling, and simple hand-sanding methods using water to reduce dust.

With the ability to choose from a small set of pre-selected shapes and designs, participants will be able to create a finished sculptural piece.

The emphasis is on process, experimentation, and creative confidence rather than artistic perfection.

No prior experience is required, and each participant will leave with a completed stone carving they created themselves.

Using paint, paper, shape, and colour, you’ll be guided through the process of developing your own unique artwork. Susan will provide demonstrations, examples, and supportive guidance while participants share ideas and explore creative possibilities together.

All supplies will be included, however, you're more than welcome to bring any personal papers, photos, or images you'd like to incorporate into your piece.

No experience is necessary, just come ready to experiment and have fun!

A significant investment in Alberta's arts community is paving the way for even more creativity, connection, and opportunity across the province!

The Canada Council for the Arts' $25 million investment recognizes the incredible talent and potential that exists in Alberta, providing vital support for artists and arts organizations to create, collaborate, and thrive.

Curious about what this could mean for your own artistic practice? Artists interested in learning more about Canada Council grants and funding opportunities are invited to join us on July 7th with Francine Cunningham, Artist Liaison Consultant for the Canada Council for the Arts’ Alberta Focus Initiative, to explore the application process, available programs, and resources to help bring your creative projects to life!

This funding will help strengthen our diverse arts ecosystem, supporting artistic projects and building capacity for organizations in communities across the province. The initiative places a special focus on uplifting Indigenous, Deaf and disabled, and racialized artists, as well as those in rural, remote, and official language minority communities.

We're excited to see how this investment will inspire new stories, perspectives, and creative experiences that enrich Alberta's cultural landscape for everyone!
