Hello, August! On Friday, we hosted an opening reception to celebrate this month's two-person exhibition, Eva McCauley's We Cling to Beauty as the World Falls Apart and François Gaudet's RÉvangéline. Thank you to everyone who came out, and special thanks to Eva for giving us some insight behind her pieces. These colourful and compelling shows runs until August 30 at Big Blue Gallery (3491 Highway 1, Belliveau Cove).

Août est arrivé! Vendredi dernier, nous avons tenu un vernissage pour célébrer les deux nouvelles expositions du mois: We Cling to Beauty as the World Falls Apart d’Eva McCauley et RÉvangéline de François Gaudet. Merci à toutes les personnes qui se sont jointes à nous, et un merci tout spécial à Eva de nous avoir parlé de l’inspiration derrière ses œuvres. Ces deux expositions colorées et captivantes sont à voir jusqu’au 30 août à Big Blue Gallery (3491, route 1, Anse-des-Belliveau).

Watercolour doesn't have to be intimidating!

In her workshop Watercolour on Linen: A Creative Experience, artist Jessica Sheila will show you how painting on linen fabric is surprisingly forgiving and incredibly rewarding. No previous experience necessary!

Ready to give it a try? The workshop takes place July 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the School House at Art's Haven & Big Blue Gallery. Registration is $130 and includes all materials, including the linens. Have a special linen piece at home? Feel free to bring it along and make it uniquely yours! While many people visit Mavillette Beach for its sandy shores, artist Ray Mackie enjoys wandering where the rocks take over. Those mysterious coastal corners have inspired many of the works in Dreaming on the Outside, on view at Big Blue Gallery along with the works of Jessica Sheila, until July 30.

On July 18-19, join bead embroidery artist Karen Saltus for The Art of Adornment, a two-day creative experience where you'll learn the techniques of bead embroidery. Guided by your own creativity, you'll design a piece that's completely unique to you. So, what's it going to be—a pendant, brooch, pair of earrings, clothing embellishment, or home décor piece? Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike!

What a night! ✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the works of Jessica Sheila and Ray Mackie. It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and meet so many new ones.

If you missed the opening, there's still plenty of time to experience these thought-provoking exhibitions, Taking Up Space and Dreaming on the Outside, on view at Big Blue Gallery until July 30.
