Oh … if only these walls could talk .

The stories we could share .

My dad used to stop at Girards everyday after work on his way home from BC Rail to grab a coke and a chocolate bar and a treats for my sister and I and my mom - sometimes he would buy us records - yes good ole record player music - my first record was Michael Jackson Thriller , my sisters was , Glass Tiger .

They had THE BEST candy selection ever 🍫🍭

These are core memories .

Hey !! Does anyone else remember Marcel Girard whipping out his lottery ticket wallet in the store - or him selling tickets everywhere he went around town ? Collette was also one of a kind , always that amazing laugh and unforgettable smile .

This place was FAMILY - it was community and it was a pivotal piece of how much connection and love our amazing community embodied , so long ago , but so close we can still remember .

Here at Little Prairie Heritage Museum we honour days long past and the pioneers who made their way to Little Prairie , all those years ago .

Main Street may look a bit different now , but we will never forget all those who made their way here long before us , with a dream and a zest for adventure - with a loaded truck box and family in tow .

They worked hard , and made Chetwynd what it is today .

Home truly is , where your story begins .

Pioneer life revolved around providing the basic necessities of existence in a northern wilderness — food, shelter, fuel and clothing. Pioneering life was integral to family life and provided social stability -connection & community .

Here at Little Prairie Heritage Museum we love the energy of community .

We welcome you to the museum SUNDAY JULY 25th , 9-12 to walk back through time with us and remember days long past , and honour the rich history of our community “ LITTLE PRAIRIE “ now Chetwynd .

Chetwynd Loggers Sports 🌲🪵🪚🪓

Loggers Sports are all about showcasing the incredible skill of loggers & residents through competitions. To this day, some communities still continue to display historical logging techniques through sport. These are often the centrepiece for an annual community celebration/connection and creating healthy - co-creative communities together in all areas .
