Bronze and Hope have always had an interesting relationship. This photo is from 2021 when he was just a few days old and trying to suckle from her (instead of his mom). He seemed obsessed with her then and to this day she keeps putting him in his place as his antics have only escalated to the point where he sometimes tries to mount her and appears to be poised to take over the herd from Drake. Last week I watched Bronze incorrectly micro managing one of Drake's foals and Hope was so angry that she cornered Bronze and nailed him with both hind feet - Wham, Wham! I was cheering as she gave him a little education in manners.

It wasn't that long ago that Donder was just a pesky bachelor, endlessly harassing the other herds. He claimed one old mare and yearling that winter, then slowly built his family. Now he is a force to be reckoned with and one of the most beautiful stallions in the valley.
