Clip Clop is visiting Stephansson House Provincial Historic Site near Markerville!

Home to Stephan G. Stephansson, known as the “Poet of the Rocky Mountains”, this homestead captures settler life in 1927. After arriving from Iceland, with several stomps in the United States, Stephansson built a life near Markerville, farming by day and writing poetry by night.

Today, visitors can step inside and experience that world through original furnishings, costumed interpreters, and the simple rhythms of homestead life. Clip Clop had a great time making tracks through history and soaking up the peaceful prairie setting.

Clip Clop is visiting the Brooks Aqueduct!

Built between 1912 and 1914, this massive concrete structure was once a vital part of an irrigation system that brought water to the dry farmlands of southeastern Alberta. Stretching 3.2 kilometres across a valley and standing 20 meters above the prairie, it was the largest structure of its kind in the world at the time.

Though it no longer carries water, the aqueduct remains an impressive monument to the ingenuity and determination of the region's early agricultural pioneers. Clip Clop was throughly impressed! It's not every day you come across an old river in the sky on a quiet prairie walk!

Clip Clop has stumbled upon something unexpected stretching across the prairies.

This enormous structure rises high above the landscape. Now dry, it once carried water across a wide valley to help farmland thrive. It's long, it's towering and it's definitely impressive!

Clip Clop has followed it from end to end (it's quite the workout). Good thing he is built for the long haul!

Where has he wandered to this time? Drop your guess below.
