Hosting an exhibit like Powwow! Ohcîwin The Origins was truly a community effort. While visitors experienced the exhibit, programming, and special events throughout the summer, many individuals and organizations worked behind the scenes to help make it all possible.
We extend our sincere thanks to our local sponsors and partners, including the Camrose Centennial Museum Society, New Country 98.1, 840 CFCW, Camrose Public Library, Camrose Art Council, and the Kinette Club of Camrose, whose support helped enhance the visitor experience and community programming.
Created by Marrisa and Patrick Mitsuing, Powwow! Ohcîwin The Origins was developed with support from the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Alberta Museums Association, and the The City of Red Deer .
The exhibit's community programming, including activities held for National Indigenous Peoples Day, Canada Day celebrations and the 150th anniversary of the signing of Treaty 6, was made possible through funding from the Government of Canada. The opportunity to extend the exhibit to celebrate Alberta Culture Days was supported through funding from the Government of Alberta.
A special thank you to the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery for their help in setting up and taking down this exhibit; our dedicated Recreation & Culture staff for preparing every event for success; and the Indigenous Advisory Committee, for their thoughtful input and guidance.
