Natural hazards may be beyond our control, but there are ways to reduce the risk and the impact of whatever emergency we might face. Emergency Preparedness Week (May 3 to 9, 2026) encourages people across Canada to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their household during emergencies.

Join us at the Fire Hall Museum & Education Centre on Saturday, May 2 – as we welcome the City of Cambridge and Cambridge Fire Department to kick off Emergency Preparedness Week. Chat with the experts to learn about how best to prepare for an emergency such as a Severe Summer Storm.

Also launching at the Fire Hall Museum on Saturday are two new exhibits … "Catastrophe & Courage - Disasters and first response in Cambridge" showcasing photographs of disasters and tragedies that have impacted the community throughout the city’s history. And "Water Works – Pipes, hydrants and fire hose in firefighting" exploring water distribution throughout the community and how firefighters use water to battle fires.

THANK YOU!

Across Canada it's National Volunteer Week - an opportunity to recognize and thank all the people who volunteer their time to make our communities great places to live.

The Fire Hall Museum and Education Centre in Cambridge is a 100% volunteer organization. We couldn't open the Museum’s doors each week, preserve the history of firefighting, or share fire safety messages with children without the help of volunteers.

Thank you!

Thanks to all our volunteers, especially to paramedic Abbey Mage, who made our annual training day such a success. Abbey helped lead today’s event focusing on First Aid and CPR training. The day involved both the theoretical and hands-on training for the volunteers in preparation for the upcoming season.
