日系ブックストアの棚にズラリと並ぶ「歴史・時代小説」の中から、海外ではめったに手に入らない全巻セットをご紹介します。

1️⃣ 北方謙三『水滸伝』全19巻（全巻揃い！）
北方謙三の『水滸伝』、1巻から19巻まで全部あります。中国の古典『水滸伝』を、北方謙三が大胆に再構成した大長編です。

ポイントは、単なる古典の現代風アレンジではないところ。梁山泊に集まった豪傑たちが、個性的な「英雄」ではなく、信念や葛藤を抱えたリアリティのある人間として描かれ、「国を変える」という大きな目的を持った集団の物語に仕立てられています。

2️⃣ 舟橋聖一『新・忠臣蔵』全8巻（全巻揃い！）
棚に収まり切れず箱に入れてある本の中に、1999年のNHK大河ドラマ『元禄繚乱』の原作、舟橋聖一『新・忠臣蔵』を発見。

おなじみの赤穂浪士の物語を、大石内蔵助だけでなく、浪士たちそれぞれの動きや心理を丁寧に追った大長編です。文庫版全8巻、すべてそろっています。

Celebrate Culture Days at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site!
New Cannery Tour Sneak Peek: Japanese Canadian Stories of the West Coast.
September 20, 26, 27, October 3 and 4.

This 45-minute tour will be offered exclusively during Culture Days 2026 and will introduce attendees to a selection of the stories we plan to include in the new 2027 Cannery self-guided and guided experiences.

This is the first of several upcoming projects aiming to connect the diverse perspectives of West Coast communities to the stories of BC’s West Coast fishing and canning industries. What missing, stories, experiences, or perspectives do you want the Cannery to share? After the tour, tell us how we can continue to support the voices of unheard communities past and present.

An important new Interpretive Site has opened at Hastings Park at the PNE grounds in Vancouver. It carries names of the more than 8,000 Japanese Canadians who were uprooted from their homes and neighbourhoods in Vancouver, held for months in livestock buildings, then sent to internment and work camps.

But the Japanese Canadian story doesn't start in the 1940s. Most people held at Hastings Park were born in BC. Japanese Canadian families have helped to build British Columbia and Canada beginning in the 1870s. Our families built neighbourhoods and businesses, became fishers and boat builders, berry farmers, shopkeepers and teachers, and veterans who served Canada in World War 1. This is the rich history we are working to reclaim, while renewing our community for the future.
