Fifty years ago, on May 17, 1976, a group of dedicated citizens incorporated the Brandon Museum. Half a century later, we honour the founders whose vision built the institution we are proud to steward.
President: Colonel S. A. Magnacca
Vice-Presidents: G. P. Sutherland, Mrs. P. A. McPhail
Secretary: R. J. Coates
Treasurer: A. E. Shuttleworth
Directors: E. Garth Stouffer, Dr. H. W. Burmeister, Mrs. C. W. Disher, John McGregor, R. W. Brown, Mrs. F. J. Heeney, and Nick Auriti
Their words, inscribed on the plaque presented by Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Brown in 1978, still ring true: "The citizens of Brandon and district are greatly indebted to the above for the work they have done to make this museum possible."
Thank you to the founders, and to every volunteer, donor, and visitor who has carried this work forward. Here's to the next fifty years.
