The work of Peter brings together function, form, and a deep sensitivity to process.
Each piece is thoughtfully handcrafted in small batches, shaped by wheel throwing, slab building, or slip casting into handmade plaster molds, allowing space for experimentation, refinement, and new ideas to emerge through clay.
Inspired by the textures of nature and the quiet beauty of history, Peter’s ceramics often begin as functional forms before being gently altered by hand — carved rims, stamped details, and subtle surface shifts that make every piece feel lived-in and unique.
His glazing process is equally intentional, using self-developed cone 6 glazes applied through layering, dipping, spraying, and sponging to create rich, evolving surfaces.
A beautiful extension of this practice is his Ikebana bowls — designed specifically for Japanese flower arranging. These shallow vessels are intentionally shaped to hold stems at different angles, often featuring subtle interior structures or pin-like supports that help guide composition. Instead of simply “holding” flowers, they actively shape the arrangement, encouraging balance, negative space, and sculptural simplicity.
