Stir the Pot – Heritage Week on Bowen Island
Heritage Week 2026 is here, and this year’s theme is Stir the Pot.
On Bowen Island, we are doing exactly that.
Join the Bowen Island Museum & Archives and the Bowen Island Heritage Preservation Association for a Heritage Theme Dinner at the Bowen Island Legion on Friday, February 20 from 5:30 to 9:00 pm.
We’re serving recipes pulled straight from old Bowen cookbooks held in the archives, including dishes connected to long-time families like the Proudlocks, Wallworks, and Buchanans.
Think meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, apple crisp… and yes, there may be jello.
Each dish comes with a bit of Bowen history. It’s comfort food with a story.
Tickets• $15 Legion members• $17 non-members• Members can purchase Thursday 5:00–7:00 pm at the Legion• Limited seating• Additional tickets may be available at the door Friday
Vegetarian options available.
With generous support from the Bowen Island General Store and Miller’s Meat.
Come share a table, a meal, and a little piece of Bowen’s past. Heritage lives best when it is shared.

The Bowen Archives holds many short-run newspapers. For some titles we have complete collections, while for others we only have a single issue. We are looking for additional copies of two papers in particular:
Hood Point News – we currently only have the first edition (July 16, 1962).
Then & Now by John & Elaine McLeod – we currently only have Volume 4 (August 1987).
If you happen to have copies of these, we would love to hear from you!
