This is the end... Of our 2026 operative season, we had a wonderful time having tourists from near and far come by this year. However today is our last official day of business so you've got only a few hours left to come by before we are done for the summer.

However, if you did not get a chance to come by this year we have next summer! Of which we will update you when we are opening for our 2027 season sometime in the late spring of 2027.

Thank you all for the support and let us know in the comments if you made a visit and how it went!

Albeit Birchy Bay was a lumber town in terms of its origins, fishing was still vital for small, waterfront communities, in Newfoundland and Labrador. Primarily, for work purposes until the 1990's ( due to the Cod Moratorium being implemented in 1992 )

Here is a out on the water view of Jumpers Head as of this year and a fishing line that most home-style fishermen would have made up if they didn't have a proper fishing pole. 🎣🐟

A view worth painting, within those picture frames on the wall in this set is some snapshots we got atop Jumpers Head, of which is the town of Birchy Bay and across the bay is Baytona.

Birchy Bay and Baytona have some of the most aesthetic views on the Road To The Isles route that goes from Lewisporte all the way to Twillingate. But due to the communities placement on such its sort of out of the way.

However, if you are on your way to either of those towns come by the Over The Top Museum and ( if weather prevails ) go on up Jumpers Head Trail and see those views yourself!

"Put a junk in there luh" is a sentence that plenty of Newfoundlanders have heard throughout the years.

The request was made to tell someone to put a log of wood in the stove either because it was going low or it was cooling off and you need a bit more fuel in the fire🔥

Come by and see this old beaut of a stove at the Over The Top Museum, open from 10 am to 5 pm daily on Main Street Birchy Bay.

Can you play the Organ? if so drop on by the Over The Top Museum for our little digital talent show! we will post upwards of 10 people playing our preserved air pump organ on our Instagram and pages on the 5th of August. Just be sure that you are here for it on the 2nd or 3rd of August!

If you do not want to be filmed on those 2 dates but you still feel like playing it then just let Olivia ( who is one of our museum attendants for our 2026 season ) know once you show up

Otherwise, you can still pop on by until our closing date later on this month, and our hours are 10 am to 5pm

Cheffing it up back in the past was much more of a hassle but much more necessary than it is today, especially since families were larger and convenient food supplies were much less plentiful. However due to modern electrical grids and gas lines we no longer need wood or ice to make our kitchen appliances to work. 🍽️😋

You can come by during our hours of 10am to 5pm to see these historical pieces up close as well as see the other aspects of the Over The Top Museum
