As part of the Beaverton Fall Fest downtown sidewalk sale Oct 3 Sat 10am - 3pm, the Old Stone Jail will be open to visitors. Come learn some history, take a pic of yourself in the jail cell or your mugshot at the WANTED sign! 📸

Another full house at the museum - FREE Culture Days and Speaker Series - author Kathy Wasylenky, spoke about her book Lucy Maud Montgomery – Life as Mrs. Ewan MacDonald.

She explored Montgomery's years as Mrs. Ewan MacDonald, the woman, wife, mother and writer behind the famous name.

We discovered a side of Lucy Maud Montgomery we didn't know. Her facets of life and experiences were intriguing.

Celebrate FREE Culture Days and our 50th Anniversary! We are excited to welcome author Kathy Wasylenky, talking about her book, Lucy Maud – Life as Mrs. Ewan MacDonald.

She takes us into another chapter of Montgomery’s life, exploring her years as Mrs. Ewan MacDonald, the woman, wife, mother and writer behind the famous name.

Montgomery referred to herself as "mistress of the Manse", the manse was her first home as a married woman and she became an important part of the community after moving there in 1911, and her time at the manse was the happiest years of her adult life.

Come discover a side of Lucy Maud Montgomery you didn't know. Whether you're a lifelong L.M. Montgomery fan, a book lover, a history buff, or simply curious, come join us! Kathy Wasylenky will also have signed copies of her book for purchase.

🏆 We’re celebrating a very special honour!
We are proud to share that the Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society has received the Township of Brock’s Award of Merit for Arts, Heritage and Culture! 🎉
And what a year to receive it - our 50th Anniversary! 🎂

Since 1976, this work has been powered by volunteers who have given countless hours, year after year behind the scenes - cataloguing artifacts, caring for our historical buildings, researching local history, creating exhibits, giving tours, organizing events, fundraising, cleaning, fixing, setting up, taking down and jumping in wherever a helping hand is needed!

This award is not just a recognition of an organization. It is a recognition of the many, many people who have made BTEHS what it is today.

A HUGE thank you to every volunteer, staff, Summer students, past and present, who have given their time, talents and passion. This milestone belongs to all of you! 👏

♥ And to our COMMUNITY - we thank you! Visiting the museum, coming to our events, sharing your stories and photographs, asking questions, following along, volunteering, donating and continuing to show such wonderful interest in Beaverton Thorah Eldon's local history. Your support and enthusiasm keep us going.

It is an honour have this journey recognized. It was an absolute wonderful event. Here's to the next 50 years!

Come view vintage & old photos of Beaverton, Thorah, Eldon and Canada over the last 50 years and all its history at the Arena Beaverton Fall Fair Sep 19 Sat. Amazing stuff!

Check out the Beaver River Railway trains and see where the old rails and stations were. The kids would also love Thomas the Trains! See you soon!
