Today's is Philip Pullman's classic fantasy series His Dark Materials, which was challenged here in Canada for: "Anti-Religious and Atheist Themes: Trustees and religious groups objected to the series—comprising The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass—because of its subversive portrayal of organized religion, church-like authorities (the Magisterium), and author Philip Pullman’s stated themes regarding Christian beliefs."

There are those in this society who want to ban and burn books, which is crazy to me. Some young lads traded this gas can (art by BR local Troy Sloan) for books at the market last night, and the timing and symbolism is perfect. It is , so we will be showcasing banned books all week - run, don't walk, to read these.

Today's is John Steinbeck's Gr**es of Wrath: "The Gr**es of Wrath was banned and even burned in several communities after its 1939 publication because it exposed the harsh exploitation of migrant workers, criticized powerful agricultural businesses." Fight the man - read what they don't want you to read .
