Maison Doucet Hennessy House Bathurst

Maison Doucet Hennessy House Bathurst The Maison Doucet Hennessy House Association Inc. The Doucet Hennessy House is one of the oldest continuously occupied homes in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

is a non-profit charitable organization in Bathurst, NB that is repurposing this heritage building for community cultural use and housing. The current house which exists today was determined to have been built in 1858 through a scientific analysis of wood samples undertaken by scientists at Mount Allison University's MADLab, which also found that the wooden floors and foundation contained reutili

zed wood dating back to 1808 and 1811. This ties in with Charles Doucet's acquisition of a land grant from King George III in 1807, as he was required to build a home within five years. Nevertheless, further study is required to determine whether the cellar is the original upon which Charles Doucet's first home was built, circa 1807-1808.

*New online tool makes it easier to explore New Brunswick family history*

Anyone looking to trace their family roots or learn more about the region’s history now have an easier way to search New Brunswick’s historical records.

The Provincial Archives of New Brunswick has launched a new vital statistics search platform that allows users to quickly search historical birth, marriage and death records, track requests and access improved online services.

More than one million historical vital statistics records are currently available online, including birth records more than 95 years old and marriage and death records more than 50 years old.

For many, the online collection can be a valuable resource for researching local ancestors, family connections and the history of communities throughout New Brunswick.

The province has also dramatically expanded its online historical photograph collection, which now includes more than 150,000 images, up from approximately 2,200 less than a year ago.

“The archives continues to preserve New Brunswick's documentary heritage while improving public access to historical records,” said Provincial Archivist Joanna Aiton Kerr.

The Provincial Archives was the first archives in North America to make historical vital statistics records available online in 1998. Since 2008, the service has processed more than 44 million searches.

The new platform was developed through a collaboration involving the Provincial Archives, the Office of the Chief Information Officer and Service New Brunswick. Online payment options are expected to be added soon.

For anyone interested in genealogy, the new platform provides another convenient way to discover the people, families and stories that helped shape the community and the province.

We’re Exploring an Addition to the Ben’s Music Stop Team! 🎸

As Ben’s Music Stop continues to grow, we’re looking at expanding our focus on the online side of our business and reaching more musicians across Canada.

We’re currently exploring the addition of a part-time E-Commerce & Digital Marketing Coordinator to help us take that next step.

We’d love to hear from someone with skills or experience in areas such as:

• WordPress & WooCommerce
• Online product catalogue management
• Social media content & management
• Basic SEO and website optimization
• Product photography/content creation
• Canva or similar design tools

Knowledge of guitars and musical instruments would definitely be an asset, but it’s not a requirement. We’re primarily looking for someone who is creative, organized, comfortable with technology and able to work independently.

This would initially be a part-time position based in Bathurst, NB, with the opportunity to help shape and grow the online presence of an independent New Brunswick music store.

Interested? Send us a private message or email your résumé to:
