Keep the Steam Alive!

A new opportunity is coming for those who want to help preserve Manitoba’s steam heritage. Manitoba Agricultural Museum's 'Steam Adoption & Mentorship Program' will offer opportunities to adopt, learn, preserve, research, and share knowledge. Applications for both Steam Adopter/Mentors AND Steam Mentees open November 1!

The programs provide opportunities to:
• Adopt a steam asset and support its preservation, stewardship, interpretation, and community engagement.
• Become a steam mentee and gain knowledge, experience, and mentorship in steam-related activities, preservation, collections, research, and community engagement.

Application Timeline:
November 1: Applications open on the Manitoba Agricultural Museum website (https://mbagmuseum.ca/steam-adoption-mentorship/)
November 1 – January 31: Applications accepted
January 31 at 11:59 PM: Application deadline
February – March: Applications reviewed
March: Applicants notified

Applications for Steam Adopter/Mentors and Steam Mentees are reviewed through a consistent and transparent process, considering program alignment, community benefit, feasibility, commitment, and available mentorship and collection resources.

Visit our website for program details, eligibility requirements, application forms, and FAQs. https://mbagmuseum.ca/steam-adoption-mentorship/

Preserve the past. Share the knowledge. Build the future of steam.

As the weather turns and we ready our site to handle another , we wanted to thank all our guests, volunteers and members for a wonderful season in 2026!

We had a great time at welcoming guests from across Canada and our Heritage Harvest was a great day in the fields. Our school programs allowed us to educate and inspire more kids and we loved interacting with our international guests onsite.

Planning starts now for more education, fun, MTRS2027 and new programs starting in Spring 2027 so stay tuned!

New exhibit alert!

This summer, Sara Thiessen, our Curatorial & Interpretive Assistant, created a new exhibit exploring ecology using artifacts from our collection. (Look closely to see how creatively Sara painted the background animals and landscape!)

Fun fact: Most of these artifacts were collected decades ago and don't necessarily fit within the museum’s agricultural mandate. But that’s the fun of collections; they can reveal new stories and meanings over time!

🌱 Thank you Sara for your amazing work on this exhibit!
