DON'T FORGET! For many people, this weekend's weather is going to feature some combination of bitter cold, wintry precipitation, or both. Please be smart with your furry friends, making sure to make the effort to keep them warm.

As temperatures drop dangerously low across much of the country this week, it’s especially important to protect dogs from the cold. Many have short coats and can lose body heat quickly in freezing air, wind chill, and wet conditions, so bring them indoors whenever possible and make sure they always have a warm, dry place to rest.

Even some dog breeds that love winter weather still need protection when temperatures turn extreme. And even if your pit bull seems excited to go outside, extreme cold can still be risky, especially at night. Keep outdoor breaks short, consider a sweater or jacket, and wipe paws after walks to remove ice melt or salt. Small steps can make a lifesaving difference. 🐾❄️
