Hoje para encerrar o , o tema que vamos abordar são os oceanos — destacando sua preservação, cultura marítima e as mudanças que moldaram nossa relação com o mar.
Para marcar esse dia, trazemos uma parte da nossa coleção de cartões postais e um suplemento ilustrado da revista "Vida Doméstica" de 1928, que exaltava a rapidez e segurança dos navios transatlânticos.
A família do Conde Vicente de Azevedo viajava à Europa a bordo de embarcações como "Gelria", "Conte Rosso", "Conte Verde"e "Mendoza". No fim do século 19 e início do 20, antes dos aviões, atravessar o oceano era a única forma de chegar a outros continentes — uma jornada longa, confortável e memorável. Algumas dessas travessias coincidiram com grandes marcos históricos, como o início da Primeira Guerra Mundial (1914) e a Exposição Internacional de 1925, que apresentou ao mundo o estilo Art Déco.
Celebramos essas memórias e reforçamos a importância de cuidar dos oceanos, que seguem sendo vias de conexão, cultura e vida.
Today, to close Museum Week, the theme we explore is the oceans — highlighting their preservation, maritime culture, and the transformations that have shaped our relationship with the sea.
To mark this day, we present part of our postcard collection along with an illustrated supplement from the Vida Doméstica magazine, published in 1928, which praised the speed and safety of transatlantic steamships.
The family of Count Vicente de Azevedo traveled to Europe aboard ships such as the Gelria, Conte Rosso, Conte Verde, and Mendoza. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, before airplanes, crossing the ocean was the only way to reach other continents — a long, comfortable, and memorable journey. Some of these voyages coincided with major historical events, such as the outbreak of World War I in 1914 and the 1925 International Exhibition, which introduced the Art Deco style to the world.
We celebrate these memories and reaffirm the importance of protecting the oceans, which remain vital routes of connection, culture, and life.
