A little chaos, a few sharp edges, and just enough colour to keep things interesting.

Brutalism has never looked so comfortable.

The furniture is iconic.
The architecture is legendary.
And the painting? Quietly stealing the show. 😎

Sorry, Le Corbusier. Someone had to.

Two paintings. (Defoe house & Bunyan Court Abstracted)

Black and white. No distractions. Just tension, silence, and everything in between.

If one of these paintings speaks to you, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share more about the story behind them, or how they might find a place in your own space.

Two paintings having a rather intense conversation. (Defoe House & Bunyan Court Abstracted)… and a bit of detail of Monolith on the left.

Neither is willing to compromise.

Both insist they’re right.
And apparently, colour wasn’t invited.

A perfectly normal day in my studio.

BIAF · De Waagnatie
10–11 oktober · 11.00–18.00 uur

Wie Held in Blue tijdens de beurs rustig wil bekijken, mag me vooraf een bericht sturen.

Concrete, geometry, smoke… and just enough colour to misbehave.

A city reduced to fragments … a structure trying to stay in control while everything around it starts to blur.

What if brutalism wasn’t architecture, but a state of mind?

Concrete. Isolation. Fracture….
Things carried quietly until they become too heavy to hold.

An AI experiment exploring the darker side of my visual world , where architecture stops being a building and becomes something internal.

STILL INSIDE.

BIAF ANTWERP — THE WORKS I’M BRINGING.

Seven works.
Seven different fragments of the city.
Concrete, memory, tension, silence … and a little blue refusing to disappear.

For BIAF 2026, I’ll be presenting:

1. The Line That Holds
2. Ce que la ville retient la nuit
3. Held in Blue
4. Ce qui reste
5. Monolith — diptych
6. Bunyan Court Abstracted
7. Defoe House

Some look back at the brutalist architecture that started this journey….Others already point towards what comes next, a more personal territory where architecture becomes less about buildings and more about what we carry inside.

Seven works. One wall. Let’s see if they behave. 😉

I used to look at a wall and think about its shape, its weight and the marks left by time. Lately, I find myself wondering what it hides.

That change is present in 'Tussen de barsten en het licht'.

Black covers much of the painting, while pale areas show through its cracks and scraped layers.

I see something human in that surface: the effort to hold things together, and the traces of what we have lived through.

This painting points towards my new direction, STILL INSIDE. Architecture remains my visual language, but I am becoming more interested in the feelings we keep behind our own walls.

There is a kind of tension you can carry quietly. You go about your day, but something stays on your mind.

I see that feeling in Spanning. The black shapes press against pale, worn surfaces. Some lines hold firm; others seem close to breaking. Then the orange appears at the edge, bright and impossible to ignore.

The forms come from my interest in architecture, but this painting feels personal to me. It reminds me of the effort it takes to stay composed when there is more going on inside than anyone can see.
