Nationale 8 Gallery

Nationale 8 Gallery An art gallery, founded by father and daughter Erzeel. Presenting with a smile emerging artists.

THE LAST ROUND - OPENING 11/11/2025

The last round marks the true final stop for Nationale 8.
After 8 years, we feel that the two circles have come full circle, and that our story can find its resting place here.

Eight unforgettable years filled with discoveries, new friendships and artistic adventures — memories forever engraved in our hearts:

-the very first exhibition by acclaimed photographer Frederik Buyckx in Dilbeek,
-our first art fair in Paris – Le Marais (Carreau du Temple, where we immediately found ourselves delivering works to the most extraordinary apartments),
-the first pop-up in Rivoli Brussels with Dominique Van Gilbergen and Jean-Baptiste Besançon,
-the inspiring journeys to Copenhagen (Thorbjorn Bechmann) and Bordeaux (Jean-Baptiste Besançon) in search of the right artists,
-the perfect duo exhibition by Miho Ichise (Japan) & David Abbott (UK),
-the high-class adventures at Luxembourg Art Week & Approche,
-and the many artworks that found their way from San Francisco to Tokyo and Australia.
But above all: the many warm encounters in our gallery and fair booths that have shaped this story.

It remains something truly unique — a chapter we will cherish forever.

With warmth and love, we look back on everyone — our artists, collectors and loyal visitors — who believed in us and shared these moments at every opening.
Thank you for your trust, your support, and your presence throughout the years.

During this final month, we raise our glass one last time — “The Last Round” —
with a group show, exceptional Christmas art deals,
and the heartfelt wish to welcome you one more time to our gallery.

With love,
Roger & Silvie Erzeel

Jan Maes – ‘Poème pour le fleuve’

Water – the series “Poème pour le fleuve” is an ode to its deeper meaning. A stream of thoughts that swirls, bubbles, and eventually comes to rest in tranquil images. A metaphor for life itself – elusive and ever-changing. Both transparent and unfathomable.

Through images that reflect our search for the unknown, it becomes a journey of discovery that never truly ends. The French titles further express this longing to understand, paired with the realization that one can never fully grasp it all. It is a way of seeing – with the openness and wonder of a child.

(“It is my duty to preserve my dream.”)

Jan Maes (1964) is self-taught. As the founder of a respected publishing house and with a deep passion for books and art, he spent years quietly developing his own visual language.
In 2024, he presented his work publicly for the first time.

JAN MAES
Poème pour le fleuve
07/09 – 25/10/2025

Jan Maes (1964) is autodidact.
