FABA is pleased to support Ryoji Ikeda Weekend at the Barbican, London

Taking place on 20–21 February 2026, this special programme brings together rarely performed acoustic works by Japanese composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda, offering a focused exploration of his practice beyond electronics.

The weekend includes:

– music for strings performed by Ensemble Modern
– music for percussion 1 & 2
– op. 2 + 3 performed by the Solem Quartet
– music for choir performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir

Across two days, the programme highlights Ikeda’s rigorous, mathematically driven compositions through strings, percussion, quartet and choral works, presented in immersive live performances at the Barbican Hall and St Giles Cripplegate.

Reflections: Picasso x Barceló, Museo de Almería, Spain, from December 16th, 2025 to March 15th, 2026.

Reflections. Picasso × Barceló forms part of the series of exhibitions entitled Reflections. Picasso ×, a project from the Museo Picasso Málaga that, in collaboration with Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso (FABA) and the Andalusian Regional Government, aims to establish dialogues between Pablo Picasso and artists from different times and contexts.
This second chapter, presented at the Museo de Almería and curated by Miguel López-Remiro, artistic director at Museo Picasso Málaga; Tania Fábrega, director at Museo de Almeria; and Laura Esparragosa, director at Museo de Cádiz. The exhibition brings together ceramic works by Pablo Picasso and Miquel Barceló with pieces from the museum’s archaeological collections, creating an encounter between art, archaeology, and matter.
The dialogue is articulated through one of the oldest and most universal creative mediums: ceramics. In Vallauris, after World War II, Picasso found a laboratory of invention in clay that combined painting, sculpture, and objects, transforming plates and pots into bodies, mythological figures, and everyday scenes. For his part, Barceló came to ceramics in the 1990s during his stay in Mali, where he learned traditional techniques and conceived of clay as a territory for experimentation in which ritual, the corporeal, and the material converge.

« Picasso. Memoria y Deseo », Museo Picasso Málaga, Spain, from November 14th, 2025 to April 12th, 2026.

Picasso Memory and Desire reflects on the system of images and its relationship with the evolution of the modern subject in the work of Picasso and his contemporaries. The exhibition’s concept is based on a work by the artist, Studio with Plaster Head of 1925 (The Museum of Modern Art, New York), which so impressed Dalí and Lorca; a work that has been considered to represent a ‘dividing line’ in Picasso’s output and in the evolution of his artistic personality due to the manner in which it reflects on the passing of time and history. In synergy with the Surrealist atmosphere of the time, Picasso’s painting reveals that an era is not a fixed mental universe but a complex articulation of times, cultural references and life experiences.
