Yesterday in Soria, Almine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso received the distinction of Valedores del Hispanismo 2026 from His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, awarded by the Fundación Duques de Soria. Fundación Duques de Soria

The distinction recognizes personalities whose work contributes to the international visibility and transmission of Spanish and Hispanic culture. It was also awarded posthumously to Christine Ruiz-Picasso, mother of Bernard Ruiz-Picasso and a key figure in the creation of the Museo Picasso Málaga.

During the ceremony, Almine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso spoke of art as a universal language, capable of crossing borders and bringing cultures together. The recognition resonates particularly with their longstanding commitment to Pablo Picasso’s legacy and to the dialogue between Spanish art and the wider international art world.

A deeply meaningful recognition, presented by King Felipe VI at the Convento de la Merced in Soria.

FABA is pleased to support Ryoji Ikeda Weekend at the Barbican, London

Taking place on 20–21 February 2026, this special programme brings together rarely performed acoustic works by Japanese composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda, offering a focused exploration of his practice beyond electronics.

The weekend includes:

– music for strings performed by Ensemble Modern
– music for percussion 1 & 2
– op. 2 + 3 performed by the Solem Quartet
– music for choir performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir

Across two days, the programme highlights Ikeda’s rigorous, mathematically driven compositions through strings, percussion, quartet and choral works, presented in immersive live performances at the Barbican Hall and St Giles Cripplegate.
