This impressive historic building in Brussels, linked with automotive history, is home to Autoworld, the Belgian National Automobile Museum. Situated in the ‘Parc du Cinquantenaire’, the neo-classical building commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Kingdom of Belgium in 1880. Since 1986 it has treasured the major part of Ghislain Mahy’s renowned classic car collection. Over 250 vehicles, ranging from cars and trucks to motorcycles, are on permanent display. From the earliest models of the dis¬tant past to contemporary cars that prefigure the automobile of tomorrow, visitors are guided through the motorcar’s history dating as far back as 1896. Various cars representing the most exciting years of the auto¬mobile history since 1960 can be approached and admired from close by, thanks to a brilliantly designed scenography. Special sections focus on sports and competition, cars owned by the Belgian Royal Family, micro and bubble cars, and car design. The Belgium at Autoworld section is dedicated to the roots and history of the Belgian car industry, including such prestigious marques as Minerva, FN and Impéria. Autoworld is a museum on the move, with temporary exhibitions taking on various automotive themes organised through¬out the year.

🇧🇪🇫🇷 AUDI SPORT QUATTRO S1 — 1985

Née de la bataille en Groupe B.

Pour maintenir sa position en rallye, Audi développa la Sport quattro. Son empattement fut raccourci de 20 cm, son cinq cylindres encore développé et une grande partie de la carrosserie réalisée en Kevlar.

Résultat : 306 ch, quatre roues motrices et une silhouette immédiatement reconnaissable.

Seulement 214 exemplaires routiers furent construits.

🇧🇪🇳🇱 AUDI SPORT QUATTRO S1 — 1985

Geboren uit de strijd in Groep B.

Om zijn positie in de rallywereld te verdedigen, ontwikkelde Audi de Sport quattro. De wielbasis werd 20 cm korter, de vijfcilindermotor verder opgevoerd en een groot deel van het koetswerk werd uitgevoerd in Kevlar.

Het resultaat: 306 pk, vierwielaandrijving en een bijzonder herkenbaar silhouet.

Van deze straatversie werden slechts 214 exemplaren gebouwd.

🇧🇪🇫🇷 Halloween Night s’empare d’Autoworld ! 👻

Le vendredi 30 octobre, le musée se met entièrement aux couleurs d’Halloween pour une soirée spéciale au milieu des voitures.

Les décorations d’Halloween plongeront tout le musée dans l’ambiance, avec des animations pour petits et grands, des histoires mystérieuses et du trick-or-treat pour les enfants déguisés. Et pour compléter la soirée, une soupe au potiron sera offerte à chaque visiteur. 🎃

Enfilez votre plus beau déguisement, venez en famille et vivez Halloween autrement à Autoworld.

Op vrijdag 30 oktober krijgt het museum een volledige Halloween-makeover voor een bijzondere avond tussen de wagens.

Halloween-decoraties brengen het hele museum in de juiste sfeer, aangevuld met animatie voor jong en oud, mysterieuze verhalen en trick-or-treat voor verklede kinderen. En om de avond compleet te maken, staat er voor iedere bezoeker een warme pompoensoep klaar. 🎃

Trek je leukste kostuum aan, breng de familie mee en beleef Halloween eens op een andere manier bij Autoworld.

What a way to celebrate 40 years of Autoworld. ❤️

On 4 October, we celebrated our anniversary together with hundreds of car enthusiasts, families, collectors and friends of Autoworld.

From an incredible Cars & Coffee and some very special cars to oldtimer rides, activities and plenty of unforgettable moments. This is what our Birthday Event looked like.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this day so special.

🇧🇪🇫🇷 MINERVA 36 TD M6 — 1936

Un morceau d’histoire automobile belge dans son état d’origine. 🇧🇪

Minerva figure parmi les grands noms de notre patrimoine automobile.

Cette Minerva 36 TD M6 de 1936 est l’une des toutes dernières voitures à avoir quitté l’usine de Mortsel.

Jamais restaurée, elle conserve sa carrosserie Vanden Plas entièrement d’origine ainsi que sa patine. Elle fut également la dernière Minerva carrossée par Vanden Plas.

Une pièce exceptionnelle issue de la célèbre collection Mahy, la collection à l’origine d’Autoworld.
Présentée précédemment dans notre exposition « Mahy – A Family of Cars ».

🇧🇪🇳🇱 MINERVA 36 TD M6 — 1936

Een stukje Belgische autogeschiedenis in originele staat. 🇧🇪

Minerva behoort tot de grote namen van onze nationale automobielgeschiedenis.

Deze Minerva 36 TD M6 uit 1936 was een van de allerlaatste exemplaren die de fabriek in Mortsel verlieten.

De wagen werd nooit gerestaureerd en bezit nog steeds zijn volledig originele Vanden Plas-koetswerk en patina. Het was bovendien de laatste Minerva waarvoor Vanden Plas een koetswerk bouwde.

Een bijzonder onderdeel van de bekende Mahy-collectie., de collectie die aan de oorsprong ligt van Autoworld.
Eerder te zien in onze tentoonstelling ‘Mahy – A Family of Cars’.
