Art-o-rama Marseille
Last day to visit, August 31st
Today is the last day to visit , where we are presenting a duo show by Jorge Méndez Blake and Léa Belooussovitch.

In 'Any tidal wave could drown us', .belooussovitch turns her lens to the human cost of the climate crisis. Based on testimonies gathered by Amnesty International, her new series draws attention to communities on the front lines who face displacement, loss, and systemic injustice. Through her signature soft-focus textile drawings, Belooussovitch transforms press images into intimate, contemplative works that honor resilience and invite reflection.

We invite you to explore all the artworks we're presenting via our Artsy profile, link in our stories.

Léa Belooussovitch creates her felt drawings using colored pencils on wool felt, drawing inspiration from media and online images of floods, tsunamis, and torrential rains. The artist enlarges and meticulously hand-draws specific details from these images, transferring scenes that inherently evoke human suffering onto a material valued for its protective, insulating, and fire-resistant qualities.

These works move away from direct representation, instead imbuing the catastrophes with an abstract quality that invites open interpretation. The horror is subdued; no identifiable victims remain. Instead, viewers are met with a diffusion of energy into color, transforming tragedy into a contemplative visual experience.

𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 is on view from January 17 - March 1, 2025 at our Brussels gallery.

𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 is the title of Léa Belooussovitch’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. It is a showcase that feels both dense and airy, offering a profound immersion into the artist’s reflections.
The term «immersion» is carefully chosen: whether taken literally or figuratively, the visitor is submerged in the work. Entire walls are covered with large-scale black-and-white prints depicting the artist’s tears, as seen through a microscope.
As Belooussovitch explains: “It’s about penetrating as deeply and as closely as possible into the visual representation of an intimate emotion and allowing oneself to be engulfed by it.”
To be overwhelmed by emotion to the point of tears

The work 𝘔𝘢𝘪𝘴, 𝘭𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘶𝘹 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘴 has been reimagined in a new context with the result of a site-specific work that reflects a network of blown-glass trajectories. Sequenced and interconnected, these elements invite viewers to sense the intangible as well as perceive the silent and subtle presence of an original breath, at once individual and shared, poetic and political.

Suspended by copper wires with conductive properties, this radical, floating installation expresses tension and explores the permeability between interior and exterior spaces. Transforming over the days and seasons, shaped by the play of light and meteorological phenomena (fog, mist, trickling water…), La Verrière, a changing and poetic space, becomes a shelter for new narratives. Simultaneously, the installation inhabiting it delves into the realm of color, revealing new amber tones and the shifting atmospheres that echo the seasonal rhythms, from autumn to winter, which the exhibition will showcase.

Allowing free rein to the interplay of colors, forms, and materials, the graphic lines of this work sculpt the space and highlight the architecture of the site. This architecture is rooted in an original gesture from 1947, designed for industrial purposes, but has since been constantly reimagined since 2016.

By blurring or altering images of current events saturated with violence, the artist gives imagination a central role in pushing back the excesses that plague our times.
Whether through a slow process of concealment and erosion, or subtle displacements, she optimistically opens up new possibilities for interpreting the world.

𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 is on view from January 17 - March 1, 2025 at our Brussels gallery.

and the present an exhibition on the theme of the kiss.

A powerful conveyor of emotions and of union across centuries and from culture to culture, the meaning of the kiss varies according to the era and context. Through the prism of the kiss, Sur tes lèvres presents a multifaceted vision of the body, desire, ritual, courtship, and care.

Starting from the collection of the Fonds régional d’art contemporain (Frac) des Pays de la Loire, expanded by loans and new creations that are being presented for the first time, this exhibition takes the public on a journey through a range of videos, photographs, sculptures, and installations.

By turns provocative or touching, ambivalent or more optimistic, the works presented at Le Lieu Unique and at the Frac Nantes site bring to life a private and social journey from the 1970s to the present day.

"𝘈𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 celebrates over 20 years of work by internationally acclaimed Japanese photographer Rinko Kawauchi. She is best known for finding beauty in the everyday, her work characterised by a poetic or dreamlike quality that imbues mundane scenes and objects with a sense of wonder and transcendence.

Drawing upon work made over two decades, the exhibition reflects upon the fragile beauty of the world we collectively inhabit. From Hokkaido’s snowy landscapes to home life during the Covid pandemic, Kawauchi captures the connections and continuity of life on this planet we call home.

The title is taken from an essay written by Masatake Shinohara for Aperture in 2021."
