The Maison Hannon as a movie set! 📽️
With Eline Vere, adapted in 1991 from the novel by Louis Couperus, Maison Hannon shifts gears. The film follows the story of a young woman trapped by the conventions of a refined yet stifling society in the late 19th century. The plot, marked by introspection and decline, finds a natural extension in the sets.
Here, the house embodies a world of refinement and restraint, crafted from details, textures, and atmospheres. It becomes the setting for an aesthetic of affectation, but also a sign of a certain exhaustion. Far from any fantastical interpretation, the setting is used to evoke the end of a world—the very one from which it emerged.
