Belangrijke update!! (English below ⬇️)

Beste bezoekers,

✨️

Dear visitors,

The museum is preparing for a fresh new chapter! We are excited to announce that we will begin renovation works in preparation for the opening of our brand-new museum shop.

To ensure these works can be carried out safely and smoothly, we will temporarily close our doors from August 18 through September 14.

After the renovation, we will reopen and warmly welcome you back to a renewed museum — now with a shop! We’re already looking forward to seeing you again then.

Thank you for your understanding and see you soon,

The Musea Sculpta Team

After The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, the painting titled ‘Madonna with Canon Joris van der Paele’ is the largest surviving work by van Eyck. He produced this painting between 1434 and 1436. The original can be found in the Groeninge Museum in Bruges. Discover it also as a sculpture painting at Musea Sculpta. 👀

This sculpture is the ‘Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil’, which in Bosch's work, was given a prominent position in The Garden of Earthly Delights. In the Bible, Eve could not resist temptation and picked the forbidden fruit from this tree. By committing this sin known as the ‘fall of man’, Eve disobeyed God's specific commandment. 🖌️
