NYU Fine Arts Society

NYU Fine Arts Society Together, we explore NYC's museums, galleries, and cultural happenings. The club sponsors a Career Symposium in the spring of each year.

NYU's Fine Arts Society is a College of Arts and Science undergraduate organization with the goal of creating a community of students interested in art history and visual culture. Through visits to New York City museums and galleries, as well as walking tours, lectures, symposia, and film screenings, the Fine Arts Society brings art history majors and non-majors together, with lively discussions.

In addition, the group publishes a newsletter at the beginning of every month during the school year, with information on mostly free arts-related events in New York City happening that month. If you would like to join, please send a blank email (no title, no body) to [email protected]. https://twitter.com/NYUFAS

We will be seeing their latest exhibition, “Ritual and Memory: The Ancient Balkans and Beyond.” This features Romanian artifacts, ranging from figurines to jewelry to weapons. Highlighted in the show are what archaeologists believe to be figurines representing a Council of Goddesses. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into the material remnants of cosmological beliefs and ritual practices from the Ancient world!

The Fine Arts Society will walk through the New York Historical Society's Salem Witch Trials Exhibit this Saturday Oct. 29 at 2:00pm. Spaces are limited so please fill out the RSVP form in our bio. You must confirm your spot once emailed for your ticket to be covered.

Exhibition details as follows:
Even after 300 years, Salem’s witch trials remain a defining example of intolerance and injustice in American history. The extraordinary events of 1692-3 led to the deaths of 25 innocent people, the vast majority of whom were women.Organized by the Peabody Essex Museum, the exhibition includes tangible fragments from the past that illuminate the real lives of Salem’s residents: those accused of witchcraft, their accusers, and those who defended them against legal charges, risking their own lives and reputations in the process.
