One small spark can quickly turn into an out-of-control fire💥

Did you know everyday tasks like slashing and welding are among the leading cause of fires?

If you are using any kind of machinery, it’s important to have enough water on hand to immediately extinguish any small fires that may start. It’s also vital to monitor Fire Danger Ratings (FDR) and, when possible, reschedule work to when conditions are more suitable.

Have had someone else enquiring about the Ritchie family. Moved to the Phesant Creek area in the 1920’s. He wants to know if anyone remembers where they lived. Not sure how long they lived there for but they moved away and a son has moved back at a later date with his family.

Today I had a man ring inquiring about people that had the commercial hotel in wowan in years 1960 to mid 65. People who had it were John Alexander Ryan (Jack) and his wife Evelyn. He is interested in licence transfer etc and arriving and leaving dates. And wants to know if there is anyone to talk to about them.

🚨 Wowan Museum Vandalised – This Is Not Ok

This afternoon the Wowan Museum was deliberately vandalised, and the damage is extensive.

Multiple windows have been smashed. One of our original vintage rural fire vehicles has had its windscreen, both side windows and a headlight destroyed. Even the historic telephone box display has been shattered.

This isn’t harmless behaviour. This is the destruction of our town’s history.

The Wowan Museum is run entirely by volunteers. We were preparing to reopen — giving our time freely to preserve and share Wowan’s story — and in a single afternoon that hard work has been undone.

Whoever is responsible needs to be held accountable. Vandalism is not a prank. It costs real money, impacts volunteers, and damages irreplaceable pieces of our community heritage.

If you saw anything suspicious in Wowan this afternoon, no matter how small it may seem, please report it to police. Silence protects the wrong people.
