Our final Artist in Residence for 2026 is Peta Hinton, a painter and sculptor investigating human relationships with the natural world. Her papier mache sculptures combine observations of native plants in the landscape and architectural features of older buildings. Drawing on past experiences working at the National Herbarium of NSW and in Bush Regeneration, Peta reflects on western scientific knowledge systems in the context of colonisation.

Join us at 1pm this Saturday 15 August at the Woodford Academy Open Day for a special conversation between our current Artist in Residence Sue Murray Sue murray artist and local historian Trudi Cooper.

Sue’s residency project has been inspired by the imagined daily life of Honora Buss, the eldest daughter of the Buss family, who remained unmarried and lived at the Academy.

In this conversation, Sue and Trudi will share two very different perspectives on the creative process behind Sue’s new video work. Sue will speak from her perspective as the artist, creative producer, director and technician, while Trudi will reflect on her experience of stepping into the space, being dressed in character and embodying the imagined role of Honora.

Together, they’ll explore what happens when history, place, imagination and performance come together

Sue will also present the new video work developed during her residency.
