On this day in 1933 a group of Woodford residents met at the R.S.L. Hall Woodford to discuss the formation of a golf club. Present at the meeting were Messrs. W. Cobb, W.Read, R.Webb, Mesdames W.Cobb and Z.Rankin, Misses Daly and R.Ziegler. Mr Read moved that a Golf Club be formed in Woodford and be called "The Woodford Golf Club". This was seconded by Mrs Rankin and carried by all present.
Thus the Woodford Golf Club came into being, not at its present location, but the foundation had been laid for the club as it is today.
The original 9 hole course was located on land at the rear of the old Cheese Factory.
The official opening of the course was performed by Mr Grimstone, M.L.A. on October 8,1933.
Photo is the taken at the official opening.
Research by the late Mr Norm Riddle.
