Anna Caione Art

Anna Caione Art Anna's practice incorporates found materials and raw pigments which are holders and carriers that have undergone gradual and imperceptible change.

She layers and stitches such materials revealing the trace of the artist’s touch. Anna's practice is concerned with subjective understandings of matter and space; with the flow of energy inherent in materials; and with vitality and memory. She incorporates used card boxes; iconic graphics and raw pigments. These ‘fabrics’ and materials are holders and carriers that have undergone gradual and imper

ceptible change. Anna resurrects into artworks these short-lived, material remnants of other times and places; layering and stitching together pigments, paints, swathes of material, torn card and typography. Sometimes, her artworks may reference old historical surfaces, ancient structures, architecture, landscape and yet carry a sense of history through such processes, revealing the trace of the artist’s touch.

Undertook a traditional painting workshop at my old Academy of the arts in Turin as an alumnus student I had the opportunity to reconnect with traditional technique usually not used when I create my process based artworks. How magical, I undertook the workshop in a room surrounded by 16th century artworks. I also practised my Italian as the course is for locals with no tourists as Italy is full of them at present. Very interesting very inspiring. I then had my short Mac in a traditional cafe initiated in 1875, the café at Baratti & Milano with wall paintings by artist Giulio Cananova a well renowned Liberty artist of Turin which influenced the artwork I painted. The cafe is an institution for creatives artists poets and philosophers # l might not come back
